Recording Apps (DAWs and Editors)
Not as full-featured as other audio platforms. Part of the Adobe family. I have used it on a limited basis. I try to avoid Adobe products as much as possible (except for Photoshop) since they are so buggy and cause conflicts with your operating system. Save yourself a lot of headaches and use another app.
It’s FREE! The world's most popular audio editing and recording app. Basic program, enough for most classical guitarists.
The resurrection of the excellent audio program, Sonar. Good program (I used to use it when it was called “Cakewalk”. Confusing subscription pricing.
One-time purchase various versions.
For Apple users only (Mac, iPhone, and iPad).
Noise and click repair. Professional software. Expensive with a high learning curve. Izotope has been purchased by other companies recently, so I have experienced problems with downloading the software and other glitches.
For Apple users only (Mac and iPad).
Free editor. I haven’t used it, but the website says “Ocenaudio is a cross-platform, easy-to-use, fast, and functional audio editor. It's ideal for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users.”
The industry standard for may years. It has a steep learning curve. Many users have a love-hate relationship with it. It can be a pain to use. Expensive, subscription from $70-470 per year.
I have used quite a few recording apps and this has become my favorite. It has a steep learning curve, but I like that it's fully customizable. One-time purchase, extremely cheap for a recording platform as sophisticated as this.
